With a strong focus on education and movement-based strategies, young athletes learn to recognize, address, and prevent issues on their own—skills that benefit them long after rehab ends.
Virtual care also fosters clear communication between athletes and their physiotherapist, helping them articulate their concerns and understand solutions in real time.
By shifting the focus to active participation and problem-solving, virtual physiotherapy builds confidence, resilience, and long-term success in sport.
The kind that secretly thrives off long days spent in sweaty gymnasiums?
You would do ANYTHING to keep your daughter on the court and crushing balls because nothing beats the butterflies you get in your stomach as you watch her carry her team into the finals
But the only problem is —
Just as soon as your heart fills with pride — your stomach sinks as you catch her with a hand on her back, and a hobble in her step...
You try to reassure yourself:
“She was under the ball”
“She’s just getting back into the swing of things”
“It’s probably because she grew 2 inches this summer”
But you see her wince again and if you are being completely honest with yourself – you are starting to worry
because you know how much it will KILL her to have to sit out of practice
You want to do more —
but aside from sending her for another bout of Physio and pulling her from practices — you aren’t entirely sure what else you can do to make sure her shoulder doesn’t land her on the bench at Nationals.
Go from feeling worried about her growing list of injuries TO confident that she can make it through the season without having to sit out at practice because of a back injury
Go from wondering if her back pain is just growing pains, to knowing exactly who she needs to see to get the support she needs
Go from feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice on your Google searches to having a clear roadmap that will help guide your daughter back to her energetic and hard-hitting self
Many parents will find themselves in this space at some point – watching their daughter walk the fine line between discomfort and injury –
Not knowing:
When to conveniently schedule a family getaway so she’ll actually have to rest
If it is her teenage hormones causing her to overreact or if you need to call in some a teen expert to help her navigate a new injury
Whether to take her to her Doctor, Naturopath, Physical Therapist or Personal Trainer when she starts complaining about her knee for the 3rd time that week
But guess what. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Hi there! I'm Kristin and I am a Registered Physical Therapist and former D1 Volleyball Player. I help teen girls feeling frustrated by their bodies learn to train smarter so they can swing without pain, dive without hesitation and earn a spot on their dream team.
As a young athlete, I grew up playing a variety of sports. By the time I hit my teenage years, I was my dance studio’s tallest ballerina en pointe, and had dabbled in most sports – but none of these sports came close to grabbing hold of my heart like volleyball did.
I ended up getting a full scholarship to play Division 1 Volleyball at the University at Buffalo.
It felt like the harder I worked at this sport that I loved, the more things seemed to magically fall into place.
Unfortunately, at the same time as my performance was peaking, my body was slowly starting to complain and the harder I worked, the more things started to add up – until I ended up needing back surgery.
As a teen girl, I had fallen into the trap of believing that working harder was what would lead to my success, when really, what I needed was to learn how to listen to my body.
Working harder landed me in the training room with a whole slew of injuries, where working smarter would have kept me on the court, feeling good and breaking records.
Now it is my mission to help teen girls feeling frustrated by their bodies, learn to train smarter and feel empowered, so they can play with confidence, advocate for their needs and set the stage for lifelong success in their health and sport.
And guess what! It all starts with you -- the magnificent volleymoms and volleydads of the world!
So, will you be joining me?

"My body is very healthy and I have no pain at all"
Before working with Kristin, my knee was very sore and it was hard to complete a full set lunges or squats. After working with Kristin, I was able to make team Ontario and I feel like I couldn’t have done it without working with her. My body is very healthy and I have no pain at all. - Melia, age 13
When Robyn started the empow(HER) program she was in a bit of a rut. She wasn’t exercising a lot and didn’t have a lot of inspiration to get out and ‘move’. When she got into the volleyball program things started to change for her. The one-on-one sessions with Kristin and the group sessions with girls her age motivated her and she started to really enjoy the challenge of learning new skills and putting them into practice. She left the program feeling a lot more confident not just in her volleyball skills but also in her own body.
My daughter has fallen in love with Volleyball and we are so thankful that she has found a mentor who shares her passion. When Melia works with Kristin, she always leaves with a wealth of knowledge to share regarding her personal health, volleyball training , injury prevention and nutrition. Melia also knows she can reach Kristin if she has any questions, and values her opinion as an Athlete, Woman, Physiotherapist and Coach.
Kristin’s manner is warm and friendly, she is incredibly knowledgeable and she genuinely cares for her clients. Both of my daughters recently had the opportunity to participate in Kristin’s empow(HER) Program. Not only did my daughters gain skill and confidence in their volleyball game, they also learned invaluable information around healthy lifestyle decisions and how to decrease their risk of injury in sport. This was an incredible and unique opportunity for my daughters that cannot be found anywhere else! Highly recommended.
